I am SO happy to finally be posting this piece of work. It has been a massive journey and a significant learning curve to get here from my last project.
Originally, this project was intended to practice my texturing ability in Substance Painter. It then became a sidetracked endeavor focused on learning how to properly bake normal maps, understanding the differences between OpenGL and DirectX, knowing when sharp edges and seams are needed, and realizing that no matter how much effort you put in, if you zoom in far enough on anything, it will look flawed. Additionally, this was the first time I had worked with UDIMs, so I am excited to now say I understand them well.

This project has taught me more than just practical 3D art skills. It has instilled patience in learning, the resilience needed to stay motivated while teaching yourself the unknown, and understanding where to draw the line between having an eye for detail and striving wastefully for perfectionism.

Ultimately, this project took three months of work amidst other commitments, and I know that if I were to restart from the beginning, I could complete it all again in three weeks.
